When Nik gets a surprise proposal at a baseball game and needs to flee - Carlos is there to help her escape.  Carlos was a supporting character in The Wedding Date and it was so fun to meet his family during this story.

The chemistry between these two is so cute and they definitely have a believable connection.  I love Nik’s group of friends as well as Carlos’s family.  Guillory does just a great job creating ties between her characters and making you want to pick up the next book on this series!  I will definitely be reading The Wedding Date soon!

While I was sometimes frustrated by Carlos’s issues with medicine, especially as a doctor, I did still enjoy this book.  I would recommend it for my romance readers, especially those while enjoyed The Wedding Date and the fun loving Carlos we met in that book!

Carlos comes off misogynistic, which is a shame because I LOVED HIM in the first book. Nik is perfect though.

I liked this book better than the first one! It follows the romance between journalist Nikole and Carlos, Drew's best friend from The Wedding Date, after Nik's disaster of an ex-boyfriend very publicly proposes to her. I loved how their friendship and attraction evolved, it felt very natural. They forced each other to confront their own insecurities and heal. Also, that scene with the enchiladas: perfection.

I liked the idea of this story it takes some tropes and twits them. The idea of a quick relationship and jump right into marriage. An independent professional woman having to deal with unwanted “fame” attention on social media and still try to do her job. Confidence issues and managing a new relationship (or whatever you want to call it). The girl power and women helping each other out even it’s not in a way you would traditional see it. Also as a Mexican American who does not speak fluent Spanish, I liked that the love interest is also Mexican American and talks about that as well.
