I had high, high hopes for this book. I was disappointed. There were great elements: POC characters, female empowerment, funny segments, and some very hot sex scenes. The cons were Carlos being just as misogynistic and entitled as Nik's exes. The drama scene was so forced, seemed to come out of nowhere and basically made a fool of the both of them.

I was given an ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I quite enjoyed this book. I had read the author’s other companion book, The Wedding Date, and enjoyed it, and was looking forward to The Proposal. Carlos was actually my favorite character in the first book, so I was excited to see him as one of the main characters in this new book.

I thought the story was cute, and being a baseball fan, I did enjoy the beginning chapters of the book. I don’t usually read contemporary romance novels, but this was a fun, quick read, and I’ll definitely be recommending it to readers at my branch.

Okay so I am just now learning that this is the second book in a series, but even without the context of the first, I really enjoyed this cute rom com! I am loving the more socially aware skew modern romance books are taking too. For example, the couple in this story is mix raced and the trials of this fact are not ignored.

Finally finished! Got kind of sidetracked with schoolwork there. A sweet romance with highly competent and likable main characters! I didn’t get the “wow can’t put this one down” sense that some romance novels give me, but definitely an enjoyable read.
