Book Two of Preacher picks up from where Book 1 left off but expands the Preacher universe. We find out about The Grail and the organisation which surrounds it - a militarised dictatorship with the sole focus of keeping the descendants of Jesus alive. This isn’t Dan Brown tho - the one descendent left has fallen foul of the toll incest take on a gene pool.
We see more of Cassidy and I enjoyed the insight into his past. Tulip gets more to do in this book and Jesse continues on his quest to catch up with God - I particularly enjoyed his meeting with one of his dad’s old friends and the flashback sequence to Vietnam.
As always, there’s plenty of content warnings to be had here - this isn’t suitable for everyone.
However, the writing and art work is fantastic! A solid 4 stars from me. Can’t wait to read on and see where the story goes!
