Camille tries to leave the hurt of her past behind. She lost her husband and son in a car accident. She is afraid to try another relationship. Adam was hurt by his divorce and doesn't allow anyone close.
This story was about more than a second chance romance. At was about how damaged people who have to deal with the pain rather than avoid it. Adam and Camille are a mature couple, which is a nice change of pace. I enjoyed seeing the couple's relationship grow. From beginning to end, the story is full of feeling and emotion. Adam is a great example of what a dad should be. Her really wanted kids. He was so sweet with his niece.
I do wish I would have had a bit more of Camille's past revealed in the story. I think we could have understood the hurt in a more personal level if we saw her life before. Healing Hearts does end happily but for me personally I am sad that it didn't turn out perfectly. I know that perfection isn't real life but it could be in fiction.
