I would give this a zero if I could. The amount of fat shaming, bullying, harassment, etc etc is outrageous. There is zero redemption for all the interactions in my opinion, and this book should only be used by educators as what NOT to do or say.
A child on a diet
A mother who is encouraging her daughter to be skinny
A brother who bullies and name calls
Brothers friends who harass and are giving hugs and touching without consent
Negativity around “love handles”, stretch marks, etc
Negative self talk

The list goes on…!!!!!

No word about health. Mental health. Physical health.

Avoid this book and in my opinion, do not have it in your libraries. Super disappointed as all the horse info was great!

Kate traverses English horse riding and the word of being twelve.
I love the many facts about horses and competing. I also love the panels made up of the various horses in the barn.

This is a quick read full of realistic portrayals of body image, crushes, bullies and best friends. Finding your place is never easy, but I was cheering Kate on at every step.

I never read books in blue black and white. I like graphic novels colorful. But this book is super good. A great coming of age book for girls who love horses or not! This graphic novel is a must read!
