A fast-paced space opera with a mysterious atmosphere and dense thematic layering, featuring lots of lore that isn't over-explained and an epic orchestral soundtrack.
Throw in some fantastic world-building (notice how no one pops up and goes "I am blarg of the floo-flars, we believe in x and y" but instead places are just shown in a way that reminds you of human societies and you're expected to draw your own conclusions, e.g. The Canisians being a bit Roman Empire etc.) and some phenomenal performances (John Sessions' General Tannis is probably my favourite Who villain ever, he's so deliciously evil, and how good is Stephen Fry at melodrama?!) and you've got what is in many ways exactly what I want from a Doctor Who.
I seem to be giving out lots of 5 star ratings recently! I suppose it's nice to really be enjoying my favourite thing again, but I'm a bit worried that I'm not engaging critically enough. Oh well, at least I'm having fun

This is a strange story. It's heavily steeped in the mythology of the Doctor Who series, especially the classic series, and casual Doctor Who fans might not understand everything going on. On the other hand, those that are very knowledgable about the Doctor Who mythos might be put off by the heavy changes made to the background of the universe.
But it has Stephen Fry as a Time Lord, and that pretty much wipes away any concerns about this drama.
In all honesty, it has some amazing acting performances, and the story is just a lot of fun from start to finish. I highly recommend it to Doctor Who fans.

Doctor Who: Death Comes to Time
Original Who fan? Narrators: Sylvester McCoy, Sophie Aldred, Stephen Fry, Nicholas Courtney, Anthony Stewart Head, John Sessions. Bloopers & news reports after the story.
This is an audiobook that was worked up based on the scripts that weren’t used when the show was cancelled. I loved their plans for Ace!! If you’re a fan of the 7th Doctor & Ace this would be an interesting follow up to the show for you.

May not be considered canon now with Modern WHO around, but it is still a lot of fun!
