This book satisfies requirement #8 ~ war/military fiction for the 2014 eclectic reader challenge.
I really liked the basic premise of the book. Someone was spreading small pox in Richmond, VA by spreading tainted money. Narcissa Powers, a nurse, and Judah Daniel, a free black doctoress are on a mission to find out who and stop a major outbreak. There are plenty of twists and turns and the basic story is pretty good. The problem I had with the book is that it seemed to become more of a soap opera in the middle. It took away from the medical mystery for me.
