I love the idea of this story; I think it’s creative and has real potential. It also kind of rings truer to our current political climate than I wish it did. Which makes for an interesting read.
Overall, though, I didn’t love it as much as I wanted to. I just don’t enjoy horror books that are trying hard to gross me out. There’s a big difference between having vulgarity and gore in your story to enhance the story and having them in your story to try to get a rise out of your reader.
This won’t be an issue for every reader; in fact, I know some who have the opposite opinion to mine. But I’m an honest reviewer, and it impacts my reading experience when I feel the author is trying to gross me out for its own sake.
