i’m a bit late to the party, i never read this one as a child, but i’m really glad i picked it up.
very addictive story. reeled me in and kept me there from the second i started reading. highly recommend.

i can’t help but wonder what the series would’ve been like if it had purely been about katniss and not had the romance / love triangle aspect in it. granted, every dystopian series on the market then had the token triangle, but it would’ve been nice to see that.

Very enjoyable read, I was constantly looking forward to reading the next chapter. Katniss is a great main character and was very well developed. Peeta  could have been fleshed out slightly more for me personally to make me believe more in the romance.

The second book is way better. This one is still good though.

Truly one of the greatest things i’ve ever read. It’s a complex and compelling story that urges the reader to open their mind to the nuances of the world we live in. Panem may be a dystopian future- but it is all too real.

Not to mention every character is lovable in their own way, and Katniss as a protagonist is one of the greatest I've ever seen. This book is considered a classic of young adult fiction, and it still holds strong to this day.

I'm glad I finally got around to reading the Hunger Games, though I suspect I got less out of it now than I would have when I was younger - it seems like the kind of book which would have absolutely consumed my life at 13 years old. That being said, it was a great book; I appreciated it for being a quick read, with enough depth to keep me interested but not so much complexity as to get in the way of the entertainment and escapism that I was there for. Katniss is an excellent protagonist, with enough character flaws to make her interesting, and she's an easy character to root for throughout. The side characters are also notable for all having fairly well-defined personalities which contribute to the strength of the story.
