Classic horror is really hit or miss for me. I might have liked this of it was longer and more in depth.

I’d heard this story is one that has inspired many a horror book. I just read one of them so I wanted to go back and listen to this one to see the similarities and differences. Poe is sooo creepy. It was rough. But also brilliant

I have a history with this one, so I thought I'd fit a quick reread in to get some #valitines squares. Poe is very good with language and the whole thing stays creepy, though the ending is less emotionally affecting than I remembered. I also noticed some imperialistic worldview things that I missed when I was younger. My favorite thing about this story is the way horror is put on the house and dynastic family. I think I should try to read more gothic things, or modernized gothic things. I seem to like the tropes involved.
