The Fall of the House of Usher is a short book about an unnamed narrator who visits an old dying friend. The story starts out with a creepy feeling in the background, and keeps getting creepier and creepier. And true, it the horror element is mild and it takes place in the ending, but the whole atmosphere is spot-on gothic and dark.

2 = It was okay.

I read this after reading the retelling “What Moves the Dead” by T. Kingfisher. The original was fine, but since I don’t really get into stories this short I definitely liked the retelling better.

It’s classic Poe—which means it always feels like the solid bones of a good story with not nearly enough detail and then it’s over too fast.

I am not sure if it was because I listened to this book that i was a bit confused or if it just me with poe's writing. The atmosphere was amazing along with some of the descriptive aspects. But the story itself just left me confused and what was really the point of this story. There was also alot of tension near the end of the book which was really well done I just don't particularly think that this story was for me and that is fine.
