I really enjoyed the first book but this felt like a step back. The characters are just really hard to like even though they generally have good reasons for how stupid or obnoxious they act. I'll still stick with the series through the finale and hope it is better.

loved getting back into this world and getting more of these characters. I can't wait to read the next book and see how this plays out. I was not expecting there to be another book.

I feel like this book was kind of unnecessary for many reasons.
1. The book was about three times thicker than the first one so I could tell that there was probably going to be a lot of unnecessary plot.
2. Someone is always dying or close to dying. The amount of impending death or death was too much.
3. Somebody was always either having a bad day or a hard time. There was no redeeming part!
But there were also some goods parts to counteract the bad parts.
1. There was a lot of mention about phenoxies which was beautiful
2. We learned about Maribelle's real parents

If there wasn't always such a dark mood this could have been pretty good.
