I very much enjoyed the Scarecrow story but thought the other two were a little bit lacking. The Christmas Carol story with a Halloween twist was a bit bizarre but I ultimately liked the stories presented, the art style and the character work for Bruce & Jim especially.

I really enjoyed Loeb and Sale's run with Batman, but this was the weakest of them. Not sure where it fits in their run, either. Still a Loeb/Sale Batman, which is good.

Far less sophisticated thematically than it's predecessors, and what the heck happened to the artwork? I don't know, I just wasn't feeling this one.

The first two vignettes in The Haunted Knight were vivid affairs. I really appreciated the second one, as it featured the rarely-used Mad Hatter as the villain. But the third and final story -- which was clearly inspired by Dickens' Christmas Carol -- felt rushed and rung hollow. The three "ghosts" were not given nearly enough page time, and the ending was a bit saccharine.

Return to the humble beginnings of a Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale collab, as they play with all the ingredients that led up to the EPIC “The Long Halloween”.

Three short stories play out all over the course of three separate Halloweens, each of which tries to grasp some sense of Batman’s psyche.

It is in no way anything groundbreaking or upper tier of your average monthly release, but it’s Batman… sometimes that’s just good enough.

Short stories. Pretty skippable, but good art
