There are so many things I adore about this book. It's perspective on sexuality, bullying, mental health. I felt myself just wanted to both punch and hug the main character at the same time. This is not just another fluffy contemporary with some aliens thrown in, it's a beautifully crafted novel about what it means to be alive. I laughed, I cried, and I loved every second spent reading it.

Loved the twist on this doomsday love story. I didn’t know anything about the book when I started and it really did not disappoint!

Perhaps wasn't as profound or well-written as it pretends to be, but I will always have an appreciation for YA novels that delve into darker subject matter and not treat them with kid gloves.

this was a 450 page letter to his science teacher about his penis.
the characters in this book were flat and uninteresting + very strange - this entire story a copy of every other gay book out there. the author treats suicide so disrespectfully, continually calling the character who killed himself selfish and cruel for ending his life??? he handles super sensitive topics like miscarriage with NO delicacy. a woman has a miscarriage and he makes her mother and law and brother in law bet on when she’ll get pregnant again cause she’s kissing her husband?????? WHAT??
also, rhe entire romance was weird and rushed and really awful to read.
i tried SO hard to like it because of the interesting plot, but the character interactions were so unrealistic, 90% of the book was the main character talking about his penis, and the author clearly doesnt understand how to write about teenagers.
i can see the appeal - its an easy YA novel with a queer love story and interesting description, but the execution was not good at all. the story itself felt longer than it needed to be, but had so many side plots that were just stretched thin to the point that the purpose of them was lost. it felt rushed because of this.
anyways, not my cup of tea

Let’s just say you could tell this book was written in 2016.. definitely a book of its time. It gave me the same energy as Thirteen Reasons Why 😭 The story was decent but I found myself getting bored a lot. Also hated the fact that we don’t really find out what happens??? My favourite parts were the chapters focused on the different ways the world would end and I don’t even get to find out LOL. Maybe I would’ve appreciated this book more if I had read it when I was 15 years old, but at this point in time, I’m going to have to give it a 2.5/5 ⭐️
Minor: Miscarriage

Took a year of reading the first chapters on and off for me to get into it, but then finished the last 3/4 of it all in one day
