It's really difficult to listen to the main character's inner thoughts and dialogue. He is sometimes logical, sometimes jumps to conclusions, sometimes totally irrational, etc. Perhaps this was intended to get into the mind of a character his age; however, I found it really annoying and was prone to whiplash.

i loved at the edge of the universe and wanted to read more of hutchinson’s work. i’m glad i did.

we are the ants follows henry, dubbed ‘space boy’ by his peers because of his frequent run-ins with aliens who have informed him that the world will end on january 29th - unless he presses the big red button in their ship. and he has a lot of reasons not to.

this story is sad in parts, heartwarming in others, captivating all the way through and makes you question your mortality and existence. i absolutely loved it. hutchinson’s quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

This book was mostly focused on Henry Denton, the main character, and his life rather than the description about aliens and the end of the world. It was a good book, weird at some points but it has some good lessons throughout. Although
I didn’t love how the end was a complete cliffhanger.
I give it 3.5/5 stars.

literally the most accurate portrayal of mental health struggles i’ve ever read. mind the triggers but i think this is critical for everyone to read before they die.

Honestly, I was really looking forward to reading this book, sadly I was really really let down. This book dragged on for too long in the hopes of being inspiring and profound, when really it was a cast of characters failing this kid over and over. I did not find the characters in this book likeable, if anything I was super annoyed by them and their actions  This book put me in a reading slump, the writing wasn’t great and the plot was eh…… I really didn’t like this one, can’t believe I got it as a hardcover….
