This was surprisingly good considering it was a forced read through school.

Sometimes it makes me sad that all women could write about in the 1800s was domestic life

Her style is lovely, addictive even, but I'm constantly left wondering why every story felt cut short? Felt bitterly disappointed each time a story ended the moment I got invested. >:(

I feel like I just don't get short stories 🤷 I mean the writing is good (breaking news) but I'm just like ok. Though "the dog, watching, looked proud of him" is a cute fragment/idea.

A collection of stories narrating a captivating moment in the character's lives. I loved how well it described the depth of feelings in each situation and masterfully crafted what it's like to feel a whole range of emotions - sadness, love, heartbreak, happiness, melancholy, despair.
