Collection of one "new" (2005) and 3(?) older (1970's) Spider-Woman comics. I'm still struggling to really enjoy comics from pre-2010-ish.
1. There's a lot of exposition and less visual storytelling (and yes, I know technological limitations are a thing. I don't hold it against the comics, I just don't enjoy it as much).
2. Nuanced characters weren't really a thing, especially with women and characters from marginalized communities.
That said, the "new" comic had slut-shaming from the first panel, and the illustrations were really awkward. Also, the sexual assault that's framed as romantic in one of the issues from the 70's(?) I'm willing to chalk up to the time period, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.
In short, it might take me a while to be able to appreciate older comics. But I'm really really enjoying the new stuff.
