Karen Lords "The Best of all Possible Worlds" ist ganz klar SF, aber wer hier Action sucht, wird enttäuscht.

Everyone said this was completely different from Karen Lord's previous book (which I loved), and it is in terms of setting and genre and language, but there is an overt storytelling aspect to both books which I find interesting and appealing. And of course they are both written so well it seems effortless.

The is in many ways a quiet story, focusing on the complexities of human evolution and human relationships and human socities (human, not Terran, which is of primary importance in the novel). In a lot of ways it's very subtle, and there are moments of insight that I found really striking and challenging (in a positive, thinky way). I think this maybe will not be for everyone, but it's the sort of thing that really sticks with me.

I liked this, but it's Star Trek fic. I will never not believe that it's not literal Star Trek fic. (Spock/Uhura, represent!)

I liked the ideas but I don’t think I’m in the mood for an anthropological book exploring different cultures with a very slow romance.

One of the best books I've read in a long time. Despite a fairly quick moving plot, the character development is perfect and you feel like you know each character personally. I had ordered the next two books available before I made it to page 100 because I was already enthralled.
