This is a fast read, action moves along at a nice clip. Silly but good, some action is implied or plans are made that the reader isn't privy to until the plan is in play. Third in a series, so I should like to go find the first two and get acquainted with Gina and her connected 'family'.
Gina stands to gain a couple million from her recently deceased uncle, the art forger. Gina wants out of the Mob biz, but can't seem to shake 'family'.
I like that it's in her blood, family is everything even if they aren't exactly on the straight and narrow path.
A fun fast book.

This is the third book in a series but you don't have to read the others to be able to get into this one. I haven't read the other books but while reading this I didn't feel confused and I completely enjoyed this book. I actually didn't even know this was the third book until I went on Goodreads right after reading it.

The Artful Goddaughter is well written. It only has 125 pages so it is a very quick read and it is hilarious.

I want to buy the other books in this series and I will at some point because The Artful Goddaughter is such a great quick read that I couldn't put down.

I highly recommend The Artful Goddaughter by by Melodie Campbell.

Here's my review for Booklist:

What would you do for $2 million? When great-uncle Seb kicks the bucket, Gina Gallo, a Mob goddaughter gone mostly straight, has to help Seb pull off one last job to win her proper inheritance. Seb was a master art forger, and he wants Gina to do a reverse heist: replace a forgery with the rightful masterpiece in the generically named City Art Gallery. If she can’t get the job done, shady cousin Carmine gets the dough, and Gina gets humiliation. The plot moves slowly as Campbell reintroduces the many supporting characters from The Goddaughter (2012) and The Goddaughter’s Revenge (2013), most of whom are simple, if not entertaining, Mafia-world archetypes. Campbell’s writing shines, though, when she focuses on the action. The reader’s payoff comes in the grand finale, when the reverse heist finally goes down in a rousing flurry of slapstick. Newbies may feel a little lost, but readers of the two previous Gina Gallo mysteries will enjoy revisiting the wacky mobsters of Hamilton, Ontario.

The Artful Goddaughter is the third novel in the Gina Gallo mysteries. Don't worry if you haven't read the others though... it was easy to follow along. This book was a quick read, bursting with lots of action and laughs. The characters were lively and entertaining and the plot was enjoyable.
