A thoroughly researched and scholarly examination of pagan inspired practices / religions (specifically in the United States).

A bit dense, but some interesting facts and history!

This book has been on my to-read for something like 20 years. I didn’t expect the revised edition to have such thoughtful continuation and updates of these groups into the 21st century, but I’m so glad it did!

The sections on beliefs, and on Witchcraft and Wicca, are a bit better than the ones on other Neo-Pagan beliefs-- the latter tend to devolve into lists of names and places with brief topical summaries. Still very impressive, comprehensive, and fascinating.

a great reference on the development of pegans and various traditions in north america. A wide list of recources. Of course given the nature of pagans it is not exhaustive but a good reference
