Rereading this makes you love and appreciate this book a LOT more than I initially did. Woww, This...is a clever book, that explores the inner machinations of Laurent's brain. And Damen's strength and just how much of a commanding brain he has and fit to be the King.
All the twists had my heart pounding even the second time and the humour just made it better.

why is the sex scene written in such a historical fancy way. like wtf is “A sliver of opening widened, his fingers sliding up the fine line of Laurent’s collarbone, revealing it.” just say you opened his shirt bro it doesn’t need to be that fancy. we’re not french.

Loved the complexity of Pacat’s writing, and the careful ways she constructs and balances the plots of people working towards the same goal while concealing that fact from each other. They subsequently disarm each other, knowing the parts of them that were barbed to hurt one another.
