What a great action read. I love it how it always wraps up in some crazy twist. Can't wait to finish the series. One day I will be done.

tbh everything is getting pretty old except for some pretty good action scenes and plot twists- but the story is always along the lines of tavi-unexpectedly-saves-the-world-again! but hopefully it gets better..

As the cast fills out, Tavi continues to develop as a strong lead character, while the troubles that face his world continue to grow and feel hopeless. Jim Butcher is made an impressive story.

a fun series - PG-13, our hero is all right - hope he doesn't keep adding characters or forgetting the one's he already has ...

Tavi gets into yet another scrape in this book! Surprised? With the First Lord still thinking about kicking the bucket maybe someday in the future, the high lords of Alera have been bickering about who will succeed his heirless-ness. The First Lord wants to just get the whole uprising thing out of the way, so he chooses one of the two front-runners to become his legal heir in an attempt to draw out the other, Kalare, and force him to fight early. It works far better than the First Lord intended, and soon there are a lot of dead people lying about.

I love this series!  I have read it many, many times.  It never gets old.  There parts that slow, but it helps build tension and counter points the faster parts well.
The main characters all grow and change as the story progresses.  It flows in ways that are unexpected, at least for me any way and I find myself cheering along with Tavi at his triumphs and feeling remorse and sadness when the worst happens.
It is simply a great read.
