I'm a therapist and genderqueer.

➕ Wildly healthy and helpful.
➕ A must-read for all cis therapists,
➕ but also informative to those of us who are under the trans umbrella.
➕ It's written in an accessible way
➕ with examples of client-therapist interactions
➕ and lists of what to do and not to do.
➕ It focuses on intersectionality from the beginning.
➕ I'm learning about various trans communities through cultures and history.

VERY helpful and comprehensive overview of best practices in clinical work with transgender and gender expansive clients. I appreciate that the authors also included a lot of of history, especially the history of clinical work with transgender individuals and different cultural conceptions of transgender folks through time all over the world.

Solid place to start if you haven’t worked with TGD folks before. The medical transition section is comprehensive and super helpful (particularly if you plan on writing MH assessment letters). A reference guide that I know I’ll turn back to again and again.
