🍎 TO TEACH?
I love Talia Hibbert's narrative voice so much, I wish I could get away with using excerpts in class, but I fear everything is way too sexy to use in a high school!

My biggest complaint is how abrupt the ending was. There feels like far too many loose endings from the story and while not every element of a story needs be resolved I think very few elements of this story were actually resolved. Perhaps Evan and Ruth’s relationship was actually the only plot point that was resolved. I suppose that sets up the series rather well, but for this story it is incredibly annoying.
My other complaint is sure minor, which is just that we didn’t see more of Ruth’s art. I found what Ruth did describe of her comic fascinating and wish I knew more.

Ruth is in a secret seven year abusive relationship. Evan’s mother dies of cancer in his late teen years. A side character’s mother has terminal cancer._savannahreads_'s review

I’m so glad that this was my first talia book, because if things only get better from here, I can’t wait to continue.
My only complaint could be that it was a little slow to me in the beginning, I felt like some places were dragging and could’ve been explored so much earlier than things were. Obviously when the plot picked up, I couldn’t put the book down and had to finish it in one sitting. So I completely got
Sucked into it, but couldn’t help but feel that it felt rushed?
The female protagonists was so reluctant and so negative towards herself that when she finally started opening up it kind of felt like it was overnight, while there were signs of her coming to terms with things and starting to verbally express herself, I think it could’ve been more flushed out.
I think that the pacing was my problem, but overall it was still so enjoyable to read.
