This book compelled me to write a review because of how bad it is; I had to abandon it by chapter 22. My main criticism of this book is how irritating the protagonist is to readers. Honestly, I am surprised to see so many positive reviews. Jorg constantly comes across as an immature, selfish, and psychotic character. It is simply disappointing to read about Jorg's desire to harm every person he dislikes or even those he admires, whether because they pose a threat to him, have questioned him, or even just mispronounced his name. We then have to read about the 14-year-old protagonist's urge to act violently towards others. He is basically a Joffrey from Game of Thrones. The differences are that Jorg always gets everything he wants. No matter the enemy, he can kill them! No matter the authority, intelligence, or any other quality of another character, Jorg always overcomes them, despite being only 14 years old. I am leaving aside the protagonist's bad nature; you can't become attached to him because everything he does or thinks about is harming others.I am reading "The Red Knight," and the "protagonist" is somewhat similar to Jorg, but within the first 100 pages, he has already been slapped by a woman, leaving him rubbing his red cheek, has fought a man who left him panting during the fight, having to apply a sort of arm lock to stop the fight before losing it; if he hadn’t, he would have lost in a humiliating manner. Meanwhile, in "Prince of Thorns," all it shows is a bad protagonist who rapes, is bloodthirsty, lacks charisma, is empty, and can kill everyone and everything in his way.

DNF @ 16%.

I like anti-heroes and I like evil villains but only if they're redeemable. This one ain't it. It isn't badly written so if I liked that sort of thing I'd be all over this. But I'm not.

Recommended if you like em dark, evil, and unredeemable.
