Livie Dodd is slowly drowning in her new life as a firefighters widow after the loss of husband Ben.
She loved him dearly but as she slowly settles into her newly single life she realises that he lived for his job, not her. Even when he was home he didn't really do anything to help. Evan the bar was his idea and then had little involvement in it!

She has relied heavily on Royce, Ben's best friend, for the last year but her feelings are becoming more than friendly and she doesn't quite know what to do with them! She doesn't want another relationship with a hero but she can't see past Royce either!

Royce Cole plays the playboy role well. But he hides a sensitive soul underneath the pranks. Livie could have been his if only he'd managed to get her to say yes to him in high school! But with the close relationship they have fostered he's not sure how to broach the subject of dating to her!

But when the local firefighters get involved in a photoshoot at the bar, Livie and Royce both have very noticeable reactions to each other and a very sweet but steamy love affair begins.

I loved the tender moments this pair share, whilst still honouring Ben as friend and husband, neither wanting to tarnish his memory or ruin their friendship. It was fun to see Royce on the end of teasing from his brother for a change and realising that the crush he has had on Livie has not been the big secret he thought it was! Fab book!!
