The protagonist, stomping about in her muddy boots, was enjoyable. The gwyllions made me laugh out loud, and the boggart was as tricksy and amoral as a creature of faerie should be. The last minute revelation of a character whose knowledge could have made the entire plot unnecessary was irritating.

It was a bit mystifying that ultimately Autumn’s trust in the boggart is misplaced, since her faith in Cai (another “monster”) is an important plot point.

Not nearly as interesting or fun as I found the other MG novels I have read by this author, though I find the writing itself very pleasant. I found that it took a bit for the story to really pull me in. Far enough in that I probably would have put the book down if I didn't know I already liked Heather Fawcett's stories.

I wasn't interested in anything happening and had to return the book to the library. I might return to it, but most likely not.

I have quickly become a fan of Heather Fawcett's work. Her stories are just so magical. Her world building is on a whole different level. I wish I could have seen some more world building in this book--especially with Hedge Witches and the different magics, but what we did see was so beautiful and fun and rewarding. I just wasn't expecting this story to rip my heart out and crush it, but it did. I will now proceed to get my hands on everything this author has written.

A really fun read, thoroughly enjoyed by my magic school-loving self. Absolutely love the main character and her family, would happily read more books about them, but this book is also a satisfying whole story by itself.
