3.75
I hovered between 3.75 and 4 stars but I settled on 3.75. This wasn't a bad book by any means. In fact, I had a great time reading it. I think the only problem with this book is that it's too long. The plot would drag on at some points, but everytime, I'd get to the point of almost dnfing, it would pick up again. The love story between Joanna and Gabriel was a beautiful one. Joanna is such a strong character, and I loved seeing her development into a strong woman as the book progressed. I think some things could've been taken out (such as long descriptions and periods of time when we're just waiting) so that the story could flow better. I would say that the romance is relatively slow burn, but the payoff is worth it. There isn't a lot of plot, but the characterization is deep. For me, the characters were strong enough for me to still enjoy the book despite the lack of plot. I'd say this book is 🌶️🌶️🌶️ /5 when it comes to spice level. There's several spicy scenes but they're not very descriptive.
