I called the major plot twist within the first 50 pages, and i predicted the ending before 50%. It was an enjoyable book, but I have to ding some star rating points for sheer predictability.

I think this was one of my most anticipated reads for the year 2023. It was advertised as a sapphic rapunzel retelling and I crave more sapphic fantasy book this read. But unfortunately it wasn't a story that really pulled me in, I feel like I struggled from the start until the ending with connecting to the characters and placing myself in the world of this book. This was mostly due to the fact that I just couldn't get the worldbuilding clear inside of my head.
I was mostly incredibly sad that the enemies to lovers trope just wasn't executed well enough for me. Enemies to lovers is one of my favourite tropes in the Fantasy genre and to have that in a sapphic book was one of the reasons why it was one of my anticipated reads of the year.

A bit to ya for me and the pacing was a bit slow for my taste in books. I’m sure a younger me would have enjoyed it :)

I loved this book! It was a lot of fun and the romantic tension was perfect. My only gripes were that the writing was a little lacking and
I felt that the ending was very abrupt. How was Kaye not having more of an existential crisis after being turned?
