I had no idea that Maeve Binchy had been a journalist with The Irish Times for over 40 years. This book was a compilation of her stories organized by decade. They had the great storytelling vibes that you get from her fiction so it was hard to remember that these people and their stories were real. She was someone it seemed like it would be great to spend time with.

Maeve is an excellent writer and I enjoyed her stories but my attention wandered frequently and I just could not finish this book.
I plan on rereading the whole book at a later date.

Really enjoyed these. As everyone says of Maeve Binchy, she writes with wit and warmth. She also writes with a confidence in her way of speaking and viewing the world that is respectful of the reader and her subjects. I think everyone would get something out of reading this.

Excellent stories. Reminds me of my gran (who was not Irish) a bit. Very charming.

This worked very well as an audiobook. Binchy's daughter reads it, and you feel like Binchy herself is right there telling you the stories.
