Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for a copy.

Girls are going missing and one lady sets out to find information while trying to keep her own scandalous past hidden.

The bad guy element was pretty twisted but all in all I found this book a bit lacking for me. I wanted more from the ending. I did like the multiple time lines and it was easy to keep track of which was which. But the main character just felt a bit flat. And one of the bad guys just didn’t really get enough of an ending.

ARC provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Not the wildest mystery I've ever read, but the writing was good, and I enjoyed reading it overall.

The story unravels across three different timelines that do come together eventually, but it takes a while, and unfortunately, that slows the pacing down considerably. Some of the twists were pretty easy to see coming as well. I did really like the protagonist—she didn't go out of her way to run headlong into danger, and made some smart choices along the way that saved me the frustration of having to yell, "why would you do this?!" The last 20% goes by very fast, and that's the part where it (finally) starts to feel thrilling.

This was a creepy and enjoyable read and something about the story just kept me reading. It didn't completely wow me but there was parts of the story that actually had me scared. I did pretty much guess what was going on quite early on but was never sure.

The premise of this novel was perfect for a good read! Small town, creepy folklore, missing girls and dark secrets. The perfect setup for a good page turner. This was a gracious 3 star read for me. I really struggled to finish.
