Absolutely dreadful. Terrible writing and the fakest “true story” ever. Not scary at all. Unfortunately, I had to read this for a book club, not sure how I’m going to review it to the person who recommended it!
tense fast-paced

I went in to this book with low hopes and it was exactly what I expected. Boring characters with no development or personality. The writing was bland and the premise was simple. This book is very much 'of the time' and I wish I could un-read it. Not scary, funny, or even thought provoking.

Oof. I understand that the author wanted to write a “matter of fact account,” but this thing reads like it was written by a robot. No tone, so dull.

3.5.

This was pretty much exactly what I expected! I think seeing so many similar renditions of this story over the years made it a little boring for me though.

a fun classic

Intriguing. Might as well call it "People ignoring red flags for 28 days straight". I would leave the premises so fast. I liked that we got the potential explanation. Also, it's funny how people believe we own the house we bought with our little human money obeying human laws. Well, guess again. Story itself is maybe closer to 3 stars, but I have to take into account it's real people, how challenging was to get information and write the book.

Although this had an amazing plot, the writing was lacking and not very good

2 stars, but not in a bad way
