The main character has serious social anxiety and it was lovely to have a mc that was clumsy and imperfect in a way that felt natural and not designed. Yet again, Levenseller does a beautiful job of world building and creating a unique magic system!

It was an entertaining book, though I think I prefer Levenseller’s stand-alones.

I loved this book from start to finish! Fast-paced but so we’ll detailed. I love Ziva and the whole cast and their imperfections. It makes them feel real and relatable. I absolutely can’t wait to read the second book!

I went outside of my comfort zone buying this book. Instead of researching for hours and staring at the cover for equally as long like I usuallllyyy do…I saw this book in Barnes & Nobles and went for it.

Listen, IT IS SO WORTH IT!!!! If you like adventure, romance, easy-to-read YA novels then you need to give this a try. Forget the lack of reviews and trust me. Everything flows well, the main character and ALL side characters are lovable, relatable, important, and entertaining in their own very unique ways. The romance?!?!? Don’t even get me started, Kellyn is literally the father of my redhead babies. There was just enough excitement mixed in with cute/touching moments, and the pacing felt easy and natural.

Loved it! 4.5 out of 5

4.5. Good book. Awesome to see someone who lives with anxiety represented and seeing her find her strength was wonderful. Wish we got to know her sister more but so excited for the sequel. All round good read.

Slow, boring, anticlimactic, & i don't care for the couples/romance. I did a mix of reading and audio book. This was actually really bad. Of all the YA books about special blades... no need to read this one. The main girl is soo annoying and whiney. The exact opposite of Levenseller's writing in shadows between us. I chose this book after reading that but I'm kind of regretting it. Lesson learned tho. I guess just bc you like 1 book from an author doesn't mean you'll like even they do.

A fun adventure story with some interesting magic. Ending on a bit of a cliffhanger. An interesting main character with representation for those of us with anxiety.
