I enjoyed this book very much so. I wanted to know so much more than I learned though. It was your typical predictable teenage story but I did like it. I wanted to know more about Charlie, his story intrigued me a lot. There were a lot of really interesting characters and I really liked the concept

This was my least favorite Alice Oseman book. I found it kind of boring and Tori's story was not as interesting or developed as Charlie, Nick, and Giorgia.

I started reading the audiobook instead, which is narrated by the actress who plays Tori Spring.

Content Warning: Mental Health Issues, Eatimg Disorder, Self-Harm, Suicidal Thoughts and Suicide Attempt. Solitaire follows Victoria ‘Tori’ Spring as she navigates sixth-form, friends she isn’t sure about, her own mental health issues as well as her brothers, and some group that is terrorising the school and town and has named themselves Solitaire. As someone who read the Heartstopper graphic novels first, this was a very interesting read because it’s a completely different writing style, vibe, storyline, and narrative. My favourite character was Tori Spring and my least favourite character was Ben Hope. I recommend this book because I don’t think you read about many characters like Tori. The outcasts, the introverts, the depressed. It’s important to know that these people exist and deserve their story to be told, too. The relationship between Tori and Michael is so interesting and compelling and I would love to see more of it. ‘What’s left underneath is the real Michael, the fire, the boy who skates, the boy who followed me to a restaurant to tell me something he couldn’t remember, the boy who has nothing better to do than force me to get out of the house and live.’

tori spring is on the ace/aro spectrum, introverted, hates parties, a pessimist, and is an angsty teen debating the meaning of life and therefore i am making her my new new personality trait because of how (unfortunately) relatable she is

This novel represents so many feelings felt in the past and in the present it hurts. Tori Spring is a character you truly only understand if you been at the place she is in. The story sucked me in, I really got to love Tory and Michael. I hope I get to read more about them.
