This sequel surprised me - in a good way. The first novel in the series, Halfway to the Grave, left me slightly disappointed due to certain characters' behavior toward the end of the book, and reading about the, ahem, creativity in the bedroom from the reviews of this installment lowered my expectations for it a lot. But, despite my initial caution, or perhaps because of it, I found myself enjoying it. Cat and Bones share some adorable aww-moments and Cat is on par with her kickassery. It's definitely worth reading, if you can stomach the gnarly sex scene. And as the Girl Scouts always say, being prepared goes a long way. You just have to know what's coming (if you know what I mean;P).

LOLOL... funniest cat fight ever, followed by the funniest over-the-top sex scene ever. I almost gave this book four stars just for that portion of the book.

Still loving this series! It is a must read for all Vampire lovers! Cat and bones are hilarious, amazing, the perfect vampire couple! If you haven't read, seriously do!-NOW!

Still hooked, I can't put these books down once I start them. I tried last night to stop reading and go to a book that just came out, but I was still devouring this one at 11 when I finished it. I just love the Night Huntress world, and Bones is Hot Hot HOT! If you haven't read this series, get on it! You won't regret it. Plus Chapter 32 in this book is famous!

The first half of the book: snooze and no Bones. New characters either disappeared or were irrelevant after a single event. I can't even remember Cat's best friend's name... She married Randy? Does it matter? Not especially. Juan is amusing but he's a Latin playboy trope that really outdated. I suspect Tate will become a problem. Annette? Go away. Cat's hateful mother is still awful.
Second half: I blew through this one, and was kind of surprised with how certain things escalated. And by that I mean, chapter 32. Listening to that as an audiobook gave me a laughing fit. Great if that's what hits the spot for you but wow. It makes me wonder how the author will continue spicing the next couple books in the series. Most paranormal/urban fantasy novels I've read really sprinkled things lightly in the first 3 books before getting more sexually graphic. But hey, here's book 2 with undiscussed sudden anal. Bit much. Where is there to go now? For real. WHERE. I need a YA novel pallet cleanser.
The ending: As before, this is book 2? Frost pulls the mawwwaage plot device. Ma'am? What. The ghoul raising adds something new for the team to deal with in the next installment, but I wonder where the story goes from here. Should I expect the next book to open with Cat running late for work and running with toast in her mouth?
Why did I read this you may wonder? Because I need to listen to something absurd during my study break walks. I learn nothing, and it's good fun. Is some of it ridiculous? Sure. Do I ship it? Hell yeah I do.

This book starts off where we left in the last book, just 4 years later. It starts off a little slow without Bones but still very important and fun and pretty much introduces us into Cat’s current life as special agent and her team. It also pretty clear while she left Bones (for his own safety) she never really got over him.
We get to know a lot of new players in this book. Which often can be overwhelming in books, but not in this, it just all fits nicely in the story and each get their own spot and background. All of them are great characters. Some you love, some you will hate and other you not quite not sure about yet. At least that was the case for me.
Cat has grown a lot since last book, even though she was pretty tough already. She just seems to be getting better and better. She is also the leader of her group and taught and still teaches them everything she knows. She is still in search for her father and finds out some really surprising family y secrets. She does finally learn who her father is, plus like I said some other very interesting secrets.
We also learn more about her existence, but not everything. I think they is still a few things to learn about what she is and what all comes with it.
Of course we have Bones….. And he is still the same as in book one, the same Bones we learned to love. He still will do anything to protect and save Cat. He is also very helpful in coming up with information. We get top meet some more people/vamps from his side. Some are great and funny, while others are funny but I hated …or not.
Annette was one of those people, I loved to hate her lol. I really can’t decide, I hate her but I still loved her in the story and hope we get to see more of her.
I loved most of the people on Cat’s team. Though I have to say I have a hate-love relationship with Tate as well.
Overall, this book was very entertaining and I read it almost nonstop, it had humor, gore, action, twists and turns, suspense and plenty of smexy romance. Chapter 32 topped all the other smexy times in the book though.
But there were some things I really wasn’t sure about, I guess I will see how it all comes together in the end before I judge it lol.

We enter with Cat on a vampire bust only it's not a vampire Cat was expecting to encounter. Its her reactions to his identity that sets everything in motion for One Foot in the Grave, 2, with the kickoff at Denise and Randy's wedding when Cat meets one of Randy's groomsmen.
Oh, now just a minute! Cat met Ian in Halfway to the Grave, 1. How can Frost act as though Cat is just meeting Ian now??? There's also an odd bit where Cat and Spade get reacquainted.
Before the wedding, Danny Milton again insinuates his nasty, little soul into Cat's life when he inadvertently, and unrepentantly, sics another assassin on Cat's ass which results in an old friend, Bones, finding Cat.
Doesn't this just set off at storm at HQ. Don is furious believing Cat to be compromised while Tate is furious for other, more personal reasons.
Ninety-percent of the story is excellent and oh, so very life-changing! Bones affects huge, and I MEAN huge, changes in his and Cat's lives. Cat finds out the identity of her father and the part that Don played in a huge part of her life while Ian gets a comeuppance he wasn't expecting.

I can't get excited about this cover. Cat's straddling a motorcycle and looking back at us quite grimly as a bat flies in front of the moon. I'd'a thought a scantily-clad Cat straddling a gravestone would have been more in keeping with the title…
