My favorite Midnight Dom

This is my favorite Midnight Dom series book :))
I even teared up after what Domitia was doing to Cari.
Definitely felt Ann emotional pull in this one more than the others. I liked them all so far except Prey.
Thank you Ines!

I'll read basically any vampire romance!! This one gagged me from the beginning, I enjoyed it throughout. There were some iffy things that I just wasn't too into-- and that's okay! I liked the book overall :) Had fun reading it and like the author's writing style, even if I thought some of the action was a little too-much in Carignan's head.

I want to see more of Marechal. Do I have to read Gaius' story for that? :D

I loved every second of this tragic love story. Hadrian and Cari are on this path of destruction and it's just a question of who's going to get there first. Then they meet each other and find a reason to live. Hadrian and Cari are complex characters that will grab you by the heartstrings and won't let go. You feel their pain and their reckless behavior is honest and real, and anyone who has ever experienced it will find it all too relatable. The redemption and will to live that they find in each other brought all kinds of happiness into my world and I finished the story with a huge smile on my face. My husband thought my all too real reaction was a bit strange, but anytime I relate to a character that deeply it's hard for me to separate their joy from my own. I could have gotten lost in this book forever, but it did eventually end. The ending was perfect, though, so I'm not going to complain too much. It's going to be a definite reread.

Some typos. It was a short and quick story that actually could have been flushed out more and I would have happily read another 100 pages. But great for what it was. Short and smutty

Different

It's like a wanna be romantic comedy version of a very tame 50 Shades of Grey. Beyond the irritating instalove, this book can't decide what it wants to be.

There's dark bondage but most of it only occurs in memory, fantasy and on the peripheral. The actual bondage between the characters is extremely tame. There's the beginning of hot sex scenes that fade to black and this edge of humor that isn't quite fulfilled.

And who is Victoria from the prologue? Because the past love throughout the rest of the book is Dominitia.

It's like Johnson was trying to temper angst with humor but it the two style just don't mix that well. And most of the strong relationships are just talked about rather than shown. All the characters jump to conclusions in the blink of an eye.

The book is just odd, marching to the beat of it's own drummer and falling fairly flat for the attempt.

Loved it!
This is the first book of Johnson's that I have read, I loved both the story and the characters and I can't wait to see what else this author does.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Almost missed this book! thanks goodness for goodreads

I’m a chronic on kindle unlimited. Just keep clicking, Next Book! But I almost missed this addition to the Midnight Doms series (its listed in its separate spin off series on Kindle, but shows up as MD#3 on goodreads).

AND THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT! Hadrian specifically is a fresh pov from these vampire bachelors. He spent his centuries with brothers loyal to each other in a way vampires in this universe are incapable of. They’ve built a family enterprise and legacy. But it’s not all roses. Suffering from severe relational abuse, he’s disconnected from everything. Until the girl next door literally falls from the sky and into his lap. But I won’t spoil it for you.

I will definitely be reading Ines Johnson’s other books in this series.

Hadrian & Carignan: They Could Have Been Great with More Effort

Carignan aka “Cari” has a death wish. Grieving the loss of her father, she wonders why she was left to survive and he hadn’t. She turns alleviates her trauma by engaging in death-defying stunts wondering why she continues to survive unscathed thinking that death will not come for her. She literally falls into Hadrian’s arms after she dives out of a plane and fails to deploy her chute.

Hadrian is in mourning for his lost love. Believing himself responsible, Hadrian has remained celibate and has refused to entertain the thought of living another woman until he meets Cari. Hadrian has decided that since Cari no longer has any regard for her life, he will take control of it and claims her as his. Soon, he discovers that Cari’s adrenaline stunts are being sabotaged and someone is out to kill her.

This was an awesome plot and had such potential if the author would not have made the whole story center around BDSM. Hadrian and his “brothers” were victims of abuse from their sire, a female vampire who used torture and pain for sadistic purposes to control the three. They are still suffering the repercussions of this centuries later and it would have been wonderful if the author had focused more in their healing and building a meaningful relationship between Hadrian and Cari. Instead, we get a young virgin still driving her father in a sex club with an inserted butt plug, trussed up in shibari knots and Hadrian as her Master. Did I mention they’d knelt known each other for three days?

There are stories for the remaining characters but I think my journey into this series ends here. I love instalove stories and the book was well written concerning prose but the story seemed rushed and very hollow. It was just OK and the ending will leave you with the feeling that something must have gotten in the way while the author was writing and she abruptly said, THE END.

Happy reading!
