FYI I listened to the audiobook.

This book wasn't what I expected! And I don't mean that in a good way or a bad way. I enjoyed how the stories were all related to each other, and I think they were well-written. Each story ended in a strange way, I liked how some stories were explained further in the later stories, but it was difficult to keep track of all the storylines at the same time.

Audiobook only note: The book switched between narrators depending on the story narrator's gender. So every other book was told from the male or female perspective. The female narrator was not as good as the male narrator.

Feels like Black Mirror or The Magnus Archives. Especially BM's Black Museum episode feels heavily inspired by Ogawa's work.

I loved how the stories intertwined, and I love Ogawa's writing style.

Revenge is a collection of eleven short stories that interconnect with one another through the mentioning of characters, situations, or objects. Each story is dark in its own way ranging from taking revenge on a lover, getting back at a customer who wronged a small business owner, or a person taking advantage of others.

This is the first book I’ve read by Ogawa and I love her writing style. I’m not the biggest short story reader, but definitely prefer when the stories are all by the same author. How Ogawa connected each story to the next was absolutely brilliant and I bet if I read it a second time I’d fine even more little tidbits. Revenge is a must read for any horror fan, and should be read in one sitting to truly enjoy the connectivity of all the stories.
