Julie Campbell's Trixie Belden is a childhood, and still, favorite. I collect the series, love the characters so much. I didn't even know about Ginny Gordon (or forgot anyways) until this past week, so I jumped at a chance to read another book by the author.
I did not like it. While I could see similarities between Ginny and Trixie, Ginny was definitely NOT Trixie. The story was good enough, though one of the reasons the "bad guy" did something wrong was because of not wearing their glasses (really?) but I didn't like the characters. I did read the 2nd book in the series, instead of the first, but there was just no bond with the characters like the Bobwhites. They were rude and mean spirited with each other a few times. They were condescending and selfish. It just was a very different book, which was good, but also bad because it was unlikable. I couldn't get invested at all,and that was disappointing!
Will probably read the other two I found, just to see if this is one was a weird fluke and cuz they are short. But very disappointed!
