Reread, in anticipation of reading the rest of the series, as I liked the Smoke spinoff so much and I feel silly watching the new TV series without having read all the books. I was happy to find this more fun than I remembered—possibly because the characters have more resonance than just the first book taken alone allows. Coincidentally, I read this right after [b:Borrower of the Night|66508|Borrower of the Night: A Vicky Bliss Mystery (Book 1)|Elizabeth Peters|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1170652210s/66508.jpg|2506046], a mystery starring one Vicky Bliss, and in the War of the Vicky/is—a battle of kickass female protagonists—Vicki Nelson totally wins.

Started reading the Blood books because I like the show on Lifetime. This was a good book, lots of fun, and a quick read. Vampires and love triangles always make for good weekend reading.

This is actually the Blood Book series, 1. Read this series before starting the Smoke Trilogy. Real-life characters mingling with a centuries-old vampire.

Loved the tv show and when I found out they where based on a book, I immediately bought them all and didn't regret it. I totally forgot I read these actually until my Brother recently went through all my books and found them!

They are a brilliant series and this being the first one was a great kicker to set it off. All the characters are introduced really well and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about it.

I have been meaning to read this series. I read the two "Wizard of the Grove" books and loved them.

The description of this series made me skip these books. Instead I read the Tony series. Damn, I do adore Tony.

Yep, a little out of kilter here.

After all this time I finally read the first Viki / Henry novel.

Here's my fast take. Viki is a major pain in the ass. She irritates the hell out of me. I like Henry, and I want to see where Tony comes into the picture.

That is why I plan to read book 2.

Brisk writing, irritating characters (Nelson and Carlucci) interesting character (Fitzroy) make for a puzzle.

But I shall plug along.
