Excellent third installment in the series. There is really no point in reading this book (or review) if you haven't read the first two stories.
Juliette has taken over as Sheriff, and Bernard from IT has taken over as mayor. Juliette, in investigating the previous mayor and sheriff's deaths, uncovers deceit. I loved how her former friends in Mechanical help her out, even as she ends up with her own problems, and we learn more about the world at large.

Stating off where 2 left off and Juliette is the best character so far. The reader finally gets to see a complex, flushed out character because the world-building is done. Juliette is uncovering the conspiracy running deep in the silo. Again, well-written and great cliff hanger.
3.5 stars
This is probably my favorite Wool thus far. I enjoy Juliette as a character and a narrator, I would not have minded if this was the narrator for the entire series but alas we all know that is not how this series works. Just please do not let Bernard narrate any stories or I may have to pull my hair out. That character is such scum that he nearly makes me want to quit reading. You know the type, that classic vile character that makes you want to skip their parts because they remind you of the lowest human scum out there. In many ways this means the character is a cliche (unfortunately built on actual human beings as well) and you should be annoyed. But then again, the character is causing a reaction from you and is that not the point? I cannot decide which side I fall on.
This installment was well-written and the story flowed well. The language was almost flowery at times, which I do not recall from other installments. Is this the author's growth or the character doing the narrating? The ending was interesting but terribly surprising, I look forward to what comes of it.

These stories just get better and better and deeper and richer with each installment. Can't wait to get the 4th and 5th. The twists have been elusive until they are right on top of me or in my rear view mirror. Nice to be surprised (even if I'm usually depressed after)!
I've read the first two books, but this is by far my favorite. Lots of development, lots to grab onto, although not always adventure/action. I finished Wool 3 and couldn't wait to start Wool 4, even though it was already late at night.
Oh. My. God. I wish I could be more eloquent than that, but that's really all I've got. Based on how Wool 2 ended, I knew Wool 3 was going to start getting deeper into the workings of the Silo and the conspiracies within. The only reason I couldn't read this book in one sitting is because of little things called work and responsibilities (boo!) otherwise, I probably wouldn't have stopped once I started. Once again, Howey ends the book on a "Holy........OMG" moment and you realize that you've been so immersed in the story, you didn't even want to predict what was going to happen next because the surprise of finding out later is SO worth it. I can't wait to read Wool 4!
