Translated from German. Narrator Kasih tells it as it is about racism faced by refugees and migrants in Germany, the alarming rise of far right groups and parties. She and two of her close friends, Hani and Saya, grew up in a 'ghetto' town and are reunited years later by a former fellow estate's wedding. This novel contains some uncomfortable truths and at times addresses the reader directly. It questions readers' assumptions, prejudice and privilege.

Großartiges Buch, das ist mein Buch des Jahres 2021. auf den letzten Metern noch das Hörbuch gehört und es hat mich umgehauen. So gut erzählt, toll vorgelesen (gar nicht monoton) und eindringlich. 

Die Beschreibungen sind sehr pointiert, plastisch, machen alles anschaulich. 

Wegen des Hörbuchs habe ich nur ein Zitat ausgeschrieben. Hier kommt es: 
„Ich bin wie ein Krümel, der vom Teller gefallen ist und trotzdem behauptet Gebäck zu sein.“
