Full disclosure, I grew up on this series so my opinion is necessarily biased.
I'm of the view that there is no such thing as a bad Asterix book ... but some volumes, like this one, are just okay.
As a child, I often borrowed this one from the library. As an adult, I'm still happy to pick this one up but it won't be the first adventure I reach for.

I read this in Dutch (my first ever book I read in Dutch).
Funny as Asterix comics always are, loved it.
Nederlands:
Dat is het eerst boek die ik ooit in het Nederlands heb gelezen. Ik ben Duitser en ik leer Nederlands. Wat een leuk and geweldig stripverhaal!

Hearing that they're not as fearsome as the Belgians, the Gauls go to Belgium to settle things. Full of Roman bashing and food, this was a real treat.
These books are full of bright, fun and delightful characters who go on various adventures and get to beat up a bunch of Roman soldiers. Accompanying the story and the characters is a plethora of clever puns and word play that the translators should get a medal for. There are always a few gags or phrases in Latin that may mean nothing to the non-Latin speakers (such as myself) but Google can lend a helping hand there.

The last Asterix story from Goscinny, who died halfway through writing the comic. As a homage to him, Uderzo drew darkened skies and rain into the comic for the rest of the album, to mark the point at which Goscinny died. A further tribute to Goscinny appears in the very last panel of the album: beneath the banquet scene, to the left of the panel, a rabbit glances mournfully at Goscinny's signature. Further references include french fries, detectives Thomson and Thompson, and the iconic Belgian statue Manneken Pis.

In this one, Ceaser is heard to say that the Belgians are the bravest Gaulish people. Vitalstatistix decides to travel to Gaul to prove that he is at least as brave. Not much of a plot, predictable and riddled with puns.
