I've heard that sometimes a story writes itself and that an end presents itself that is not popular but fitting for the characters. That anything else would would ring false and feel unnatural.

Perhaps that's what happened with this story. It isn't really what I think of as a HEA and maybe you could justify it as a HFN with potential but really, if anything, I think that
Spoilerall three end up in a worse place than when then started. Their joining, while fun, formed an attachment and the feeling I got was that Malcom wouldn't allow them to take it further due to the long distance. This then left a hole that made me sad for all of them, therefor not HFN

If I was the prompt writer I would feel a cheated. I feel it barely fit the prompt and it could have been made to work into a HEA, which was the request. Some have applauded the author for going a different way but I feel in the case of story requests you are writing for someone else, not yourself, and should give that person what they want.

One star for the participation in the writing event, one star for the hot sex.

OK, I loved this story! All of it! Even the bittersweet ending. Because anything else would have been detrimental to Alistair. And ultimately a detriment to Mal and Charlie.

I can't wait for Mal and Charlie's book to come to fruition so a few of my questions about them can be answered!
