The plot in this book seems a little too heavy for the book, and it ends pretty open. I think both of these things can be explained by the fact that there was supposed to be a fifth book that ended up being scrapped – which I think is a terrible thing, because this series had the potential for an amazing finale.

As with the third book in this novel set, I find the relationship to be strongly crafted and completely realistic. The hero is very much the beta male, which I find an interesting departure from the majority of Sinclair’s books, but it works with the set up of the Guthrie family in the first three books.

Hands-down, this is my favorite Linnea Sinclair book ever! It had the perfect balance of science fiction and romance that I've been seeking.

I loved the main characters, Makaiden and Devin, wholeheartedly. Devin, who is reserved and wears glasses (eeeee!) but has an inner core of steel, is exactly the kind of guy I've always wanted as the hero in one of these books. Makaiden, who at the beginning of the novel has been dumped into a terrible situation that is truly not of her own making, is also strong - rather than giving up or saying "poor me," she fights for herself.

The romantic impediments that face our romantic couple make perfect sense and are completely plausible. The anxious situations they enter are real nail-biters, and they're interspersed with slow periods in transit, where our characters can get to know each other. The supporting cast, too, is interesting, and the villains have agendas that don't just consist of being evil.

The only flaw - and I can't believe I'm saying this - is that I wanted one more love scene between Makaiden and Devin before the book ended!
