"Now one cannot have attempted murder without a murderer. One of the people present on that evening was a murderer..."

Spoilers/ Review for Dumb Witness (guest starring my own Dumb Witness for a special #caturday post)
.
Miss Emily Arundell has recently died allegedly due to old age and left everything to her companion/ servant Wilhelmina "Minnie" Lawson. We flash back to Emily's nieces and nephew trying to get money out of their elderly auntie but Emily refuses. Whilst her nephew and nieces are present, Emily suffers an accident allegedly falling down the stairs after stepping on her dog's, Bob, ball. Then we shift to Hastings' narrative where Poirot has received a letter from Emily some months after Emily died. But Poirot doesn't believe that Emily Arundell died due to natural causes...

I was wanting to do a non Halloween/ horror book in October so chose Dumb Witness. Seemed simple enough. I think I saw a review by someone on here and it sounded good

From the start I was very suspicious of one character and a little suspicious of a second. It's a good plot but the element of the delayed letter bugged me. A few months between the death and Poirot coming into it was a bit odd. Still. It flowed nicely and worked well. It's a good case BUT the murderer wasn't hard to guess after a point. My original guesses were too obvious but then Agatha dropped that huge clue as to who did it. If you don't see the clue you won't get it. Intriguing end but I don't know if I 100% agree with the murderer

Overall 4/5 🐕
Have you read Dumb Witness? What did you think of it?
