Mallory Whiteduck (@nativegirlsreading) is getting into reading challenges in 2020 so she decided to create this mini #NativeLiteratureChallenge2020 for anyone looking to add some Native/Indigenous lit to their reading list in the New Year. ⁣

This could be any kind of book. Inuk is the singular of the more commonly used collective term Inuit. ⁣

2. A memoir by a Native woman (18 books added)

There are so many great pieces Native women’s life writing by contemporary and historical women.

3. Indigenous genre fiction (35 books added)

The majority of popular fiction by Native writers is literary, but be on the lookout for some of the smaller enclaves of Native authors writing in various genres. ⁣

4. An author’s debut book (37 books added)

Try a new or established author’s first book.⁣

5. A history by a Native writer (25 books added)

Native historians are on the rise and their retellings of settler colonial history are vital to understandings of the land.
