Great book, this answered the questions I had about that toxic that was in the air in Monument 14.

Pretty creepy but also a bit preachy towards the end when the general regrets forcing his soldiers to kill other people.

I read this story after I read Monument 14 (#1). This fills in some of the gaps on why the serum was created and how it was tested.

It’s always tough to grade a short story because there’s little chance for characterization. I will say this one was perfectly fine, provided a bit more exposition into the blood related impacts of the chemicals. (I’m still not convinced the science is plausible.)

This one was straight down the middle. Nothing impressive or offensive about it.

Brayden's father is one of the NORAD scientists working on a new biological weapon that has just had a test, a test which proves how lethal it is and the effects that it has on four test subjects with different blood types. The test itself does not go according to plan.

This prequel to Monument 14 explains the background to the virus that escapes in the NORAD explosion, and gives an insight to some of the people who were happy to use it against people as a weapon of war. I don't have any doubt that a lot of countries are experimenting with dangerous compounds in secret labs to find the perfect biological weapon-and stories like this one highlight how easily it can go badly wrong!

I liked the story of this test as it added a bit of background to the story. We also get to see the father that Brayden keeps telling them about throughout book one. We see what kind of work he really does and how he contributes to the events of the outbreak.

"Let’s put the subjects in white, too. It will look good against the dark padding.”

Find the story here: http://www.tor.com/stories/2012/05/dress-your-marines-in-white

gah, it just gives me goosebumps. It's so scary to think THIS is a very real scenario. This testing is probably freely going on somewhere - we just don't know it!

Jack Nickolson's line always comes back to me, "You can't handle the truth."

maybe I can't......

I’ve had Monument 14 on my To-Read list for quite some time. If you plan on reading this series I highly recommend reading Dress Your Marines in White FIRST. This short story is a definite must read for the series.

The story revolves around chemical weapons development. It’s dark, thrilling, agonizing, and surprising all in a handful of paragraphs. It’s not quite Young Adult but I love seeing different view points for prequels. I can definitely recommend this, especially if you plan on reading the series.

Now comes the painful anticipation of wondering how this
Spoilercaustic substance and it’s victims
comes into play during the rest of the Monument 14 series.

Me ha gustado mucho leer esta pequeña historia, sobre todo después de leer el primer libro, ya que causa bastante más impacto

I think it is a good back story to monument 14. I just wished they would have talked more about the first incident that happened with MORS.

Very chilling little story about the creation of the nerve gas which creates so much havoc in the books. A nice background story for the series.
