It’s not quite 90’s young justice but it’s so much better than 2000’s young justice.

Okay, so I’m pretty sure that this series is targeted at a slightly younger audience. I could be wrong on that, of course, but that’s how it felt. It was still fun and interesting; it just came off a little light. Then again, introduction issue, so that can happen anyway.
The new team, which isn’t quite a team just yet, consists of: Jenny Hex, Robin (‘well, one of them!’), Kid Flash (who may or may not be trying to change his name to Impulse), Wonder Girl, and Teen Lantern. I actually really liked the design for Teen Lantern…I just wish they had named her something else. It feels a bit silly and juvenile (I know, she’s a teen, but really?).

My usual caveat for rating an issue #1: I tend to dislike issue #1 of anything!

In this issue in particular, the cast is so large that it felt like I read nothing but introductions. That said, I would rather have everybody introduced in this issue so we can get to some plot, rather than dribbling out the introductions over an entire arc. (Although, I haven't read #2 yet, so maybe I shouldn't act certain that the introductions are through for now.)

All that said, I do expect that I'll enjoy the series to follow!

Pretty great, though a touch too frantic and the artwork gets messy

I need to start with this:
Dear Brian Michael Bendis,
I'm sorry for prematurely hating you because everyone said it was your fault Super Sons was cancelled. I guess you kinda know what you're doing.
From one of your newest fans (I gueeeesss),
Kadi.

This was an interesting start to bringing YJ back. I would actually give this 3.5 stars. Not 4. I have too many questions. Who are these Gemworld people? Who is Jinny Hex? Why was Cassie reluctant to get involved? What was Tim doing in Metropolis? What on earth happened at the end?
Was Tim transported somewhere? Who is Amethyst? How did Conner grow older?

This has so much promise but not much happened in this issue. A summary:
some aliens came to Earth, started fighting, demanded Superman and after he wouldn't show and all our young heroes fought them they left.
That's it. So I think this is really just a precursor to what is to come. Kinda like a Rebirth issue is meant to reintroduce the characters to the readers. There were lots of things going on in this issue, lots of characters being introduced, but nothing was being explained. I'm assuming explanations will be coming later...

Impulse was great! Such a fun character who was constantly making inside jokes and just being his crazy impulsive self. I liked seeing Tim and Cassie's dynamic it was pretty interesting. Teen Lantern is the real mystery. Never heard of this character before so I'm hoping they flesh her out properly. Oh, and of course, the art was beautiful. So great. I love Gleason's work. Epic every time.

And I'm just going to leave this here because this was basically me when I heard YJ was coming back:
Check out my review for issue #2!
