Incredible writing and thought provoking. This short story collection is some of the best sci-fi I've read.

It only takes one Greg Egan in this universe to create short stories that combine neuroscience, cellular automatas, the Cantor dust, reflections about consciousness, wormholes, free will, and time-reversed galaxies... I do not even have the words, I simply adored it.

Excellent collection of sci-fi short fiction, told in the key of Philip K. Dick but with much better characters and dialogue. Some of the ideas presented in this collection are haunting and seem day-after-tomorrow possible; Egan seasons his stories with just the right amount of science and technology to give the reader a sense of realism amidst the unfolding dystopia.

Some really good stories in here, mixed with a few ok ones and only one or two clunkers. My favorites are:
The Infinite Assassin
The Hundred Light Year Diary
Axiomatic
The Safe Deposit Box.
A Kidnapping
The Walk
Into Darkness
Appropriate Love
The Moral Virologist.

That's a pretty good list for any collection

Weird and dark. All the stories kept me drawn in and I love how scientific the writing style is. My favorites: Blood Sisters, The Safe-Deposit Box, Seeing, Learning to Be Me, and Unstable Orbits in the Space of Lies (#1 fav). I'm amazed at how different the experience is when reading a good book of short stories vs regular length book. It forces me to slow down and read with more space, which I really enjoy. Highly recommend.

*I realized I don't give enough 5 stars because I save the 5 for some illusive "favorites" that I hardly ever find.. so here is it giving more 5s if the book deserves it! :)
