I’m really enjoying these new vignettes from my favorite graphic novelists. And I’m interested in the Lunchlady series. My favorites were Yang’s, the Lunchlady, and Telgemeier’s. Looking forward to the Detention one if we get it in the library.

Super cute collection of short bits by the monsters in the kids GN world. Especially notable for the myriad [a: Raina Telgemeier|21618|Raina Telgemeier|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1200153437p2/21618.jpg] and [b: Babymouse|476914|Camp Babymouse (Babymouse, #6)|Jennifer L. Holm|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1320410209s/476914.jpg|2195951] completists. Telgemeier's selection is about a D&D game, so that's cool. And this is the first time I've actually read a Babymouse story myself (I know, I know). It's great as a sampler, especially if you're trying to broaden your JGN knowledge very quickly.

Honestly, the standout for me was from [a: Dan Santat|1251403|Dan Santat|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1380608941p2/1251403.jpg], particularly because people just announced that he's coming out with a memoir about his childhood. I am just a ::little:: bit excited about that.

A fun anthology of well-loved graphic novelists for middle grade readers. And Lunch Lady assured us at the end of the book that there would be a #2.

Collection of stories from some big names in juvenile graphic novels. Kids who read widely in this category will certainly recognize some of their favorites.

My six year old loved this and made me pick it up and read his favorite, [a:Dav Pilkey's|33280|Dav Pilkey|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1309174964p2/33280.jpg] contribution Book ‘Em Dog Man! (intentionally riddled with spelling errors, much to my disquietude). I ended up leafing through the whole thing, and while I did not connect with all of the artists, I was quite impressed by the sections written by [a:Dan Santat|1251403|Dan Santat|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1380608941p2/1251403.jpg] and [a:Gene Luen Yang|68959|Gene Luen Yang|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1415919636p2/68959.jpg] in particular and I will definitely be on the watch for their books. I also enjoyed [a:Eric Wight|2722|Eric Wight|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1249631572p2/2722.jpg] and his Jiminy Sprinkles in “Freeze Tag", it was witty and appealingly drawn.

10 fantastic graphic novelists get together in this short story collection centered around what happens during recess. This is a wonderful introduction to graphic novels, as well as a way for fans of some of the authors to discover others. I hope that there will be other Comics Squad books to come! Recommended for grades 3 & up.
